He has an assistant riding behind him while holding an umbrella over his head to protect him from the sun. This general inspector was sent to the Indies by the Pope to inspect each bishopric office. The author explains that this man was chosen to be an inspector for twelve years and was required to be a good, charitable, honourable, Christian man.
