On the road, Don Quixote encounters a group of merchants from Toledo on their way to Murcia to buy silk. Cervantes writes that there are six of them, holding parasols, four servants on horseback, and three grooms on foot leading mules. Don Quixote orders them to halt and to confess that there is no woman more beautiful than Dulcinea of Toboso. When they refuse, the knight charges them but falls from his mount.
