Policy

The City of Oakley’s City Facilities Naming Policy establishes guidelines for naming city-owned, controlled, or maintained facilities, parks, and public properties. The policy ensures that facility names provide clear and recognizable references and are compatible with the surrounding area. Names may reflect geographic locations, such as nearby streets or neighborhoods, or cultural and historical features of the region. Facilities may also be named after individuals or families who have made significant and positive contributions to the city, state, or country, including donors or former property owners. City staff coordinate the collection of proposed names and submit recommendations to the City Manager, who then forwards them to the City Council for final approval.
